Description

Join CYT this fall for a vocal journey to 15th century medieval France and its capital in Paris, where the city awakens to The Bells of Notre Dame. Students 12-18 will imagine they are Out There, strolling by the Seine... through The Hunchback of Notre Dame Advanced Vocals class. Those not familiar with the story, written by Victor Hugo (the same author who wrote Les Miserables), will hear the soar of self-discovery, the tragedy of unfounded hate, and the beauty of unlikely friendships and love that can overcome the darkest of days. In addition to the two song titles already mentioned, several of our students/parents may also be familiar with God Help the Outcasts and Heaven's Light as both have been used for auditions in the recent past. Personal favorites like Top of the World and In A Place of Miracles along with Someday (recently performed by Voctave) are other possibilites. The plan is to do a medley of the key songs we can share with our CYT friends for Showcase.
Prerequisite: In order to qualify for this class students ages 12-18 must have taken a minimum of 3 prior vocal classes and participated in a minimum of 2 CYT productions.

Teacher:

Tim Rosenberry

Tim was born in the wilds of Pennsylvania, with an Appalachian mountain as his backyard. He began singing solos at the age of 5 and his parents taught him how to hold a microphone by swapping out an ice cream cone each time he finished a song in practice. He took that vocal background and made both district and regional high school chorus in south central Pennsylvania. He also was a soloist and member of a traveling vocal group called Living Miracles that was made up of counselors from Camp Joy-El and represented CBM Ministries. Tim attended Messiah College and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in music. The elective work for his major was focused on youth and children. Tim led the summer vocal team, New Light, representing the college. Tim served as the road manager of the 6 member ensemble for two summers, which included a 19+ state summer tour each year while performing at churches and camps across the eastern and midwestern United States. Tim started with CYT as a substitute vocal teacher during the fall of 2022. He enjoys hiking, camping, reading, singing, and playing and watching baseball, volleyball, and football. Any day he can get his wife Melissa and two daughters (Sophie and Lainie) outside and in view of some mountains is a good day.
