Description

This Fall, teacher Theresa VanWetten will equip 10-12 year olds to be Show Ready! This production preparation class will give students excellent foundational training in order to prepare them for the CYT audition process as well as production rehearsals. The class will focus on auditioning skills that will build confidence, as well as equip students with a broader understanding of show preparation. Costuming, basic makeup techniques, and props handling will be part of the training. A mid term field trip is planned for a tour of the Sherwood Center for the Arts to help students visualize this performance space. Students will audition and be cast in the mini musical of Oliver where they will get to sing and dance to songs like "You've Got To Pick A Pocket Or Two" and "Consider Yourself." The class will work closely with the Show Ready Kids class as they work together to prepare for Fall Showcase. CYT is encouraging students ages 10-12 to take this class if they have participated in fewer than 2 CYT productions. *All students participating need jazz shoes*
